Hard earned result last night at the District Quiz

Even without their Captain, who is on sick leave, Grays Thurrock Rotary Quiz team battled their way through the rounds last night at the all new Marconi Club in Chelmsford to finish a very creditable 5th out of 35 teams. Just 10 points behind the eventual winners, Chelmsford A, the team were forced to dig deep into the large vat of knowledge that the clubs premier team possesses with rounds on Beatles lyrics, history, geography, historic trades, Robert etc etc. we did however win a raffle prize!

so well done messrs Peaford MBE, Foster, Minter, Swan, Paterson and the Webmaster.

Moment of the Night !

Question - what do the following towns have in common - Basildon, Cwmbran and Cumbernauld?

Aside from the literacy rates the answer is ...........they were all designated as New Towns in the 1940s

Out of 35 teams the only two teams to get that wrong were, you guessed it, Basildon A and Basildon B teams!
