ROTARY CLUB OF GRAYS THURROCK DONATION

TO ST. LUKE’S HOSPICE.

St Lukes Hospice were delighted to be presented with a donation of

£950, by the Rotary Club of Grays Thurrock.

The Rotary Club of Grays Thurrock has been supporting the work of St. Luke’s Hospice over many years. Their latest donation will be used to support the Hospice in two very practical but different ways.

Part of the donation will be used to purchase a new Dressings Trolley for use in the Hospice’s In-patient unit. The trolley is specifically designed to enable the Hospice to maintain its high standard of care and eliminate cross contamination from patient to patient.  The rest will be put towards enabling the Hospice to purchase a new safe.  The Hospice’s finance office had been using a safe donated to them prior to opening in 1990 which was second hand then – whilst it has given good service for over 20 years, due to its age, the locking system had been causing problems beyond economical repair.

Rotary president Dr. Rajan Mohile said ‘’ We are delighted to be able to support St. Luke’s in this way. The special care that the Hospice gives has helped thousands of families in the local area who have benefited from care provided by them. We hope our donation will enable the Hospice to continue to be of even greater benefit to the local community’’.

Kevin Gordon Finance Manager at St. Luke’s explained ‘’We are particularly grateful and extend our thanks to members of the Rotary Club  for their support as it has helped us in two very practical ways at a time when funding is hard to come by. These specific items were necessary purchases which due to this kind support the Hospice no longer needs to worry about’’

St Luke’s  provides care and support free at the point of delivery 24 hours a day, 365 days a year at the Hospice in Basildon and in people’s  own homes throughout the Thurrock & Basildon areas as well as at their satellite centres in Corringham and Billericay.
