Annual Cheque Presentation Awards Lunch

Rotary Club of Grays Thurrock held its annual Cheque Presentation Awards Lunch.  Club Sleigh Captain, Iain Ramsay thanked various club members, Orchard Garden Centre and the Asda, Tesco and Morrisons Supermarkets, for their support in this annual collection effort.

The Club collected over £11,500 from supermarket and sleigh route collections for national and local children’s charities.  Cheques for £2,500 were each handed to headmaster John Brewer of Treetops School and to Laudette Wilks of Barnardo’s by acting club chair Paul Smith.  A cheque for £3,000 was given to Aron Lane of Little Havens Children’s Hospice by Paul and all recipients thanked the club and gave excellent updates on their charities and the good use to which the funds would be put.  A further cheque for £3,300 was sent to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, who didn’t attend.  The remainder of the collection monies is to be used to support other children’s charities.

Also, at the lunch was Mark Chambers the Assistant District Governor (who walked the cold Thurrock streets with us collecting) and Helen and Pippa from Smiths Orchard Garden Centre, who had helped the club with the Christmas Collections over the years and a  Certificate of Appreciation for their continued support was presented by Paul.

Barnardo's Say Thank You

Barnardo's sent us a lovely letter and said a huge thank you for our amazing donation.

They said it would help in all sorts of incredible ways.  Whether it's helping put food on the table, so children don't go hungry, helping children and families find suitable accommodation, or offering specialist support to families who are struggling to make ends meet.  We are giving children and families a helping hand when they need it most.

If you would like to support their incredible work you can contact the Community Fundraising team on 0300 003 2025 or by emailing community.fundraising@barnardos.co.uk
