Members of the Rotary Club of Grays Thurrock recently joined fellow Rotarians to celebrate a milestone evening—the 49th Charter Night of the Rotary Club of Basildon Concord. Held in the spirit of camaraderie and service, the event marked another chapter in the enduring legacy of Rotary in Essex.
The Charter Night, a traditional Rotary event commemorating the founding of a club, brought together Rotarians from neighbouring clubs.
Hosted by Basildon Concord, the evening was filled with warmth, laughter, and shared purpose. Guests enjoyed a buffet dinner, speeches from club leaders, and reflections on the club’s journey and aspirations. Then followed an evening of dancing to a 12 piece dance band in the lovely venue of The Old Regent Ballroom in Stanford le Hope.
Representatives from Grays Thurrock were proud to attend and show their support. As one of the longest-standing clubs in the region—established in 1930—Grays Thurrock has long championed collaboration among Rotary clubs. Their presence underscored the unity and mutual encouragement that define the Rotary ethos.
The evening featured Basildon Concord's President's Handover with inspiring addresses from both presidents, highlighting recent community projects and future goals. There was also a moment of recognition for the tireless efforts of volunteers and the impact Rotary continues to make locally and globally.
Events like these remind us that Rotary is more than meetings and minutes—it’s about connection, community, and creating lasting change.
