Thurrock’s Young Musician of the Year competition usually features a public performance involving young people under the age of 18 in full-time education.
This year it has been different.
The Rotary Club of Grays Thurrock organises the annual competition and celebration of young musical talent in the borough with the support of Thurrock Music Services and the Gateway Academy, but this year the event has gone to a virtual platform.
Musicians – instrumentalists and vocalists – had to hone their video recording skills too in order to submit their entries.
Each entry went through a professional adjudication and each entrant received feedback.
There were winners in each of the three classes: Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced.
This video covers the final of the competition, reveals the winner of each category and the overall Thurrock Young Musician of the Year.
