Twenty‑three members and guests of the Rotary Club of Grays Thurrock enjoyed a fantastic social evening on Tuesday 9 June as we travelled to Chelmsford for the T20 clash between Essex Men and Kent Spitfires.

The evening began with a relaxed pre‑match meal at Shisha Meze, where everyone enjoyed great food, lively conversation, and the chance to unwind together. It set the perfect tone for what became a thrilling night of cricket.

We then made our way to the Ambassador Cruise Line Ground at Chelmsford, joining a lively crowd for a match that went right down to the wire. Although Essex ultimately claimed the win, the result was far from certain — with Kent still in with a real chance until the final two balls, the tension around the ground was unmistakable.

Events like this remind us how important fellowship is to Rotary — bringing people together, strengthening friendships, and welcoming guests into our club community.

A warm thank you goes to Alan Peaford for organising the evening and ensuring everything ran smoothly. His efforts helped make the event a memorable success for all who attended.
